Recently we learned that Rosario Dawnson has been cast as Ahsoka Tano in an undisclosed role for The Mandalorian. Now, Ashley Eckstein has reacted to the news.
Appearing in the original Clone Wars movie back in 2008 and the numerous season that followed. Ahsoka was a fan favorite from day one and proved to be one of the best written characters in Star Wars. Because she made a return in Season 7 (The final Clone Wars season) fans assumed we’d see Eckstein in a live action role. However, much to some people’s surprise, Eckstein was not the choice made.
“The truth is, I am not involved in The Mandalorian. I can’t answer questions for something I have not been a part of. I am an actress and I have performed in all types of mediums; live action film/television, theater, voice-over, hosting and it has been my dream for 14 years to continue to play Ahsoka Tano in all forms.”

please don’t attack people over this
Hopefully this doesn’t lead to any hostilities in the fanbase. No doubt many people wanted to see Eckstein take on the role in the live action department.
Ahsoka is teased to be going through some major changes. Particularly between the events of Clone Wars/Rebels and The Mandalorian, this might be for the best.
Rosario Dawson has campaigned for being Ahsoka for over three years now at this point, and frankly she fits it perfectly.
One, she’s a giant nerd who’s acted in several nerd heavy projects, Two, she’s insanely charismatic and most importantly she’s likable. Not saying that Eckstein isn’t but if she was to be replaced by anyone, Dawson was the right choice!
We’re currently only about ¼ of the way through the final season of Clone Wars, so we’re excited to see Ahsoka’s arc. If it’s anything like the finale to season 5 and 6, we’re in for a hell of a ride!
What do you think of Eckstein’s comments? Does her not returning make you upset or do you think Dawson was a perfect cast? Be sure to leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
