Though Joe Exotic, the main character of the hit docuseries, The Tiger King, is behind bars, that hasn’t stopped him from signing on for a new sequel-of-sorts from Investigation Discovery.
The new series, called Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic, will take a deeper look into the disappearance of Jack “Don” Lewis, the first husband of Exotic’s rival, Carole Baskin. Page Six says, “Joe has a contract for the project, and he is going to be participating.”
Details of how Exotic will participate are unclear, as he was sentenced to 22 years in prison in January for attempting to have Carole killed and also wildlife law violations.
The rivalry between Joe Exotic and Carole was a main narrative throughout the entire show and is what captivated many viewers. Accusations that Carole killed her husband and fed him to tigers in order to get his fortune and consolidate power are going to be the crux of this new series.
“Love her or hate her, Carole is now in the center ring of the big cat circus,” Investigation Discovery said in a statement published by Entertainment Weekly. “Is she a selfless crusader and protector of animals, who found unimaginable strength despite the mysterious disappearance of her husband? Or are we witnessing Carole Baskin’s master plan finally take effect? Despite her claims of innocence, did she orchestrate the disappearance of Don Lewis to seize control of his fortune, consolidate power and lay waste to her foes? No one seems to be talking — except for one man — and that man is the center of ID’s upcoming investigative series.”
We will see what new evidence is brought to life, or if this new series will be as big of a hit as the first, but one thing is for sure: the world of Tiger King still have plenty more stories to be told.
