Despite a huge crisis moment in our world history, celebrities made some interesting decisions to ‘inspire’ people. However, one other celebrity has some rather blunt opinions about what he thinks.
Either you’re very familiar with Joe Rogan and his off kilter/unfiltered opinions on his Podcast show. He’s been an internet staple and consistent voice of reason by finding a middle ground. Recently though, with COVID causing some interesting reactions, he’s let loose a little bit.
“This is not the time, when everyone’s granny is dying, you fucking idiot, to sing, ‘Imagine there’s no heaven.’ It’s such a dumb move.”
Bold words good sir, bold words indeed. Worth bearing in mind that this sentiment is pretty well shared throughout the public. Reddit in particular (which Rogan frequents I might add) was less than impressed by the celebrity video.
He did give some more context
Rogan did elaborate a little bit, in case you thought he was too harsh in his initial statement.
“If I’m friends with her … I would have to say, ‘Listen, you’re awesome. I think you’re great. But that is a ridiculous idea.’ It is so lacking in self-awareness and so ridiculous. I mean, Granny died choking on her own vomit, but I feel like the world’s better because Gal Gadot’s so pretty. There are some people who get real self-indulgent and real self-righteous with that social media. It’s exposed a lot of celebrities for being real dorks.”
To be fair, he does raise a good point. All it really tanks to sink a career, movie or project that you’re attached to, is doing something stupid. And arguably, when the world is currently in crisis mode and thousands have lost jobs, this was the wrong move.
Whether or not you agree with Rogan, he raises a good argument as to how poorly thought out the move was. Celebrities have been accused of being disconnected with the world in the past, but this was too much for some people.
What do you make of all of this? Do you agree with Rogan and his assessment of things? If so, why? Be sure to let us know in the comments what you think of this debacle!
