Liverpool have ended their 30-year stretch of waiting by winning the Premier League after Manchester United’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea today.
The Jurgen Klopp-coached team defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 on Wednesday, leaving Liverpool needing two points in their last seven games to win the championship. But now that Manchester United is 23 points behind, their spot on top can’t be taken away.
This has ended a 30-year drought for the team, which dates back to 1990 when Kenny Daglish led the club to the Football League championship. With this win, Liverpool now has 19 titles to their organization, which is one behind Manchester United’s 20.

Many feared, when the league was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, that the season standings would be dropped altogether, with no one being named champion. But when the league restarted, they were able to keep their momentum going and keep winning, especially with the time off allowing Allison, their star goalkeeper, to return to full health.
It certainly has been an incredible season for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored 17 and 15 goals, respectively. Klopp, himself, has won five of the seven Manager of the Month awards.
For Liverpool fans, this feeling was a long-time-coming.
